In October 2015, it was announced that KeyBank would be acquiring First Niagara in a deal that would make it the 13th largest commercial bank based in the United States. Over the past year, integration teams have been working tirelessly to ensure a smooth transition for First Niagara’s customers and employees.

Over Columbus Day Weekend, First Niagara retail and business customer accounts were officially converted to KeyBank accounts; if you live in a town with a First Niagara branch, you probably noticed that the old signs were taken down and replaced with KeyBank’s signature black and red logo. This happened at 65 branches across the state in Greater Hartford/Manchester, Greater New Haven, Fairfield County and the shoreline.

As I’m sure you are aware, KeyBank did not operate in Connecticut prior to the merger; here are a few things you should know:

Local Decision-Making

KeyBank has branches from coast-to-coast and is headquartered in Cleveland, Ohio; that being said, the local decision-making customers came to expect from First Niagara will remain the same. If you are a business customer, you can expect a CT-based KeyBank team to help you put together the right package to suit your specific financing needs.
